My Thursday

I promise I am a good mom. At least I thought so until yesterday.

After I fed the girls breakfast Ambree kept asking me to play with her. I really wanted to get the house picked up and looking somewhat decent because my neighbor was bringing her kids over to play. So I kept telling Ambree that we would play later when her friend was over, and instead she should clean up her room.

I hopped on the computer to get my shift in and I was pleasantly surprised at how well the girls were playing. I was mostly surprised that they weren't bothering me like they usually do while I work.

After work I quickly got ready and got the twins some clothes and ran to get them dressed. I took off Brielle's pj's and as I put her shirt on I noticed that there was hair on her back. Her hair. All of the sudden I noticed that all around me were these little wisps and locks of blond curls. Que horror movie music.

I looked at Brielle's head and saw that chunks of her beautiful hair were missing. I started to feel sick.

"Where are the scissors Ambree?" She noticed that I was not happy and ran to get them. In the mean time I grabbed Bailey and looked. It was NOT pretty. Oh- my little girls!!!

My neighbor was going to be here in 10 minutes and here I was, in tears, picking up these blonde locks of hair that I kept finding everywhere.

I think I was shaking during the entire visit, and I feel bad because I could not concentrate on our conversation. I tried to sit Bailey down to assess her damage but I was too shaky and Bailey just wanted to play.

After they left I called my mom to tell her what had happened and ended up in tears again.

I held off calling Joe until I could calm down a little. Finally a few hours later I called him and said, "Ambree cut Bailey and Brielle's hair." He laughed. Me? I began crying. Again. I was an inconsolable mess. To him, it probably sounded like they had no hair left on their little heads. He kept telling me that it would grow back, and that every little kid does it. I continued to cry.

My mom and sis showed up a little while later. My mom came bearing her comb and hair scissors. She said that it wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. Bailey's hair was saved. No cutting required. Brielle had to have a little trim. Poor Brielle- she has the least hair of the two as it is. It actually looks really cute on her. It fits her. They both, however have little chunks here and there that will just have to grow out.

I can be grateful that Ambree did not touch her own head with those scissors. I also realized that today, I can laugh about it.

And we probably will be forever more.

Make sure to take a few pictures...you'll laugh about it in a few months. And don't worry, I think I do something on a daily basis that makes me a bad mom at some point. There are times that motherhood and a clean house take a backseat to the computer :)

What an experience! Usually when things are running smoothly it is time to get suspicious!

I didn't know you worked at home from your computer. . . what are you doing? Just curious.

Oh man, I was laughing and wanting to cry while reading that. I am sorry. You are not a bad mom, it is impossible to have all three in eyes view at all times. I want to see pictures!

What is it with little ones and cutting their hair? It seems like it's a right of passage into childhood or something!

Oh oh oh. I'm sorry that is tough. But you're right, it does happen to everyone and I definitely don't think you're a bad mom (plus if I did, that would mean I'm a bad mom) :) You're sweet mom and sister! How thoughtful!

I hope you took pictures. Of course after the tears. It's true what your husband said though...girls tend to do this. I'm sure I'll have to deal with it with Raegan sooner or later and then I'll call you in tears. Oh, and you are not a bad mother...far from it!

Oh I am so sorry! Emma has cut her own hair a few times. I think it is something that every little kid does! I saw both of your little girls at church today and didn't even notice that they were missing any locks. That still stinks though! You are not a bad mom, my kids have done worse things when I've been playing around on the computer or doing something like that!

Hi, it's Kimi (Hagblom) Bayles. I just found out you had a blog, Lindsay told me. What a sad story, scissors are such a pain and make for many families to be extremely upset! Your girls are adorable, and I hope you don't mind if I add you to my blog list so I can peek in and see how things are going.

I am so sorry! I know I would have reacted the exact same way! You are an amazing mom and I admire how wonderful you are with 3 little ones! I can hardly handle my 1 little girl!

Oh, I know how you feel. Kylee has cut quite a few things. She cut a tiny bit of Summer's hair ( I caught her before she could do real damage) and she cut a lot of her horses and animals hair. She cut the straps off the play stroller (who knows why) And get this, she is 7 now right, well a couple weeks ago I found a baggie full of hair, labeled "Kylee's hair". At first I thought maybe she got it out of the brush. No, she took a chunk right on top and cut it off. Hello, you'd think she knows better. I'm really afraid to see if Logan ever does something like this. He's crazy!

p.s. you are an awesome Mom!

Oh, I can remember both of my girls doing that. It's horrifying when it happens, but it does grow out quickly.
